Life drawings of a moving Butoh dancer

Here are some life drawings of a moving Butoh dancer made during a life drawing class at Taidehalli art gallery, Helsinki. Some of these drawings were made while I was moving around the space; in a few of them I moved 360 degrees around the subject.

I’ve been making movement drawings in my sketchbook whenever I can for some time. Often I like the results on their own, but I rarely post just these sketches; they often inform other drawings, but I like the raw quality of the sketches.

Well, it’s been lovely to be an Editor’s Pick on the discover WordPress blog. Take a look at what they had to say.

I even got a tweet! Does that mean I’m trendy?! I can’t imagine that, but anyway it’s nice to have my work noticed.

So, to celebrate this, here’s the start of another drawing!

I should squeeze an Alien in there somewhere...

This one was planned for Inktober last year, but I decided not to rush it. I still went through the list of words for each day. From these close-ups you might see the words.

The Inktober 2016 words were:
Fast, noisy, collect, hungry, sad, hidden, lost, rock, broken, jump, transport, worried, scared, tree, relax, wet, battle, escape, flight, squeeze, big, little, slow, one dozen, tired, box, creepy, burn, surprise, wreck, friend.
